Subpoena -n- a writ ordering a person to attend a court
The subpoena that came from the government was very ominous.
Fey -adj- giving an impression of vague unworldliness
The fey object tricked the man into believing it was gold.
Venerable -adj- accorded a great deal of respect
The venerable leader, King Richard, received many gifts from foreign countries.
Uncouth -adj- lacking good manners
Most teenagers could easily be described as uncouth, what with bad manners and unruly hair.
Sundry -adj- of various kinds
The sundry of animals in the world provides entertainment for bored humans.
Begrudge -v-  envy someone the possession or enjoyment of something
The man begrudged his wife the large nugget of gold she found.
Elucidate -v- make something clear
"Please elucidate your comment about my mother," the man said frostily.
Acquiescence -n- accept something reluctantly but without protest
The acquiescence of the woman to marry the man her father chose for her was uneasy and palpable in the air.
Succinct -adj-  briefly and clearly expressed
The man made his speech about freedom succinct, everyone understood him.
Facade -n- a false face that one puts on when lying or trying to
The facade was daunting, she clearly had pretended to be alright for some time.
